Clockwork Angel Review (spoilers, with also a few spoilers from City of Bones)

Clockwork Angel Review
Alright here we go :p Not sure how this is going down.
Did I like this book? Yes, but I didn't love it or hate it. I simply liked it. It was enjoyable, if not almost exactly the same as TMI take away the fact of a different time setting and a different main character.

Comparing Will and Jace: Will is exactly the same as Jace, what with their arrogant demeanours and the way they think everyone should love them and no one can do better. And then when they love someone else they think something's wrong with them. It's bullshit. The only difference in these characters is their hair...

Tessa and Clary: I hate Clary. That's all I want to say about this. I hate her. (I'll save this rage for when I read City of Fallen Angels) Tessa I don't mind, but they're still extremely similar, especially the way they both deny their feelings for the boys. I like the way Tessa seems normal, as she accepts that the Shadowhunters can't solely focus on saving Nate, but that they are trying. I like how she treats Jem as a friend, even while she sometimes feels differently about him.

Jem and Alec: At least these guys are different. For one, Alec's gay and in love with Jace, while Jem isn't in love with Will. Well, he is, but it's a different type of love. I absolutely love Jem, with the way he is forthcoming about his past to Tessa, his gentlemanliness, his caring personality, the way he accepts Tessa. I swear he loves her, because he gets those sparks when she's around, but he's the type of guy who wouldn't ever tell her if she didn't feel the same. I just love Jem. Everything.

Jessamine and Isabelle: For one, Isabelle is such a badass, while Jessamine definitely is not. Jessamine wants to be the opposite of Isabelle, but at least she knows how to fight. She really annoyed me throughout this book though, constantly denying the Shadowhunter ways because she wants a 'normal life with a husband to look after'. It got old real fast, especially when Nate came along. She insults everyone almost every chance she gets, and she sees nothing wrong with it...?

Nate: Okay this might be a long one. I can't believe that he just thought that gambling in the first place was alright!? And that Tessa and Harriet just felt the need to 'protect him from himself because he had a weak personality'. I mean who gives a crap!? He's a man, act like one! They never told him about the debt THAT THEY PAID OFF THEMSELVES, no matter how big it was. They always hid stuff from him because he might get hurt... WTF?? And then he turned out to be evil... I was kind of surprised at that, but the pityingly pathetic way he threw himself at Mortmain's feet... Ugh.

Alright now for the plot (not sure how much about this I want to say - I've been writing this for hours slowly) This is longer than I expected :p I knew that as soon as Nate didn't turn up at the docks he wasn't there. And lo and behold, I was right, and they'd taken her captive. I did think it was interesting to find out about her power. No idea what her thoughts were when she first changed. Wish they'd described that more, if they did at all.
I remember the first time or two I read this book, I found it really hard to distinguish between Mrs Black and Mrs Dark, and I definitely did not remember that one of them (can't even remember who) was a demon! I love seeing how they found Church though :D That was cool.
Thought it was super devious how Mortmain sent the Shadowhunters away so they the automatons could get inside, and then that one painting his hands in Jem's blood! Sneaky! Must have been hard to program that.
I basically cringed every time it mentioned one of Henry's inventions. I think that was the point, but ugh I just dreaded it. I knew as soon as Will was depending on it to signal the Clave at de Quincey's that it wouldn't work. At least they got out though. One thing I hated about this scene was the fact that Will managed to hold off all of those vampires, and no one got hurt, but when the rest of the Clave arrives they end up getting hurt? What??
And, to be expected, I hated all of the parts to do with Tessa and Will's relationship... Of course they were going to kiss and he was going to push her away. That's what always happens. But I do wonder what Will wants at Magnus's at the end of the book.

Question: Is this Camille that Tessa turned into the same one as in TMI? The one that sired Simon?

Comment on the quotes these freaking people memorise: How in the world do they do that?? Know that many quotes so indepth that they just pull them out of their brains on the spot, and get the words exactly right? That would drive me mad, all that stress!

Okay *takes deep breath* I think that's enough for me :p See you guys next time!

My Books (and rages about them)

So I just wanted to introduce you guys to my bookshelves :D Sadly they aren't with me at the moment, as they're up at my parents' place, which I recently moved out of. So I'll just look at these when I miss them. I know this one's blurry (didn't realise at the time). I was going to make this post yesterday, but it was raining at my parents', so it was too dark to properly see all of the books. As you can see, I have a looooot, I think around 500-600. And I also recently just got rid of the box of books yesterday, when I spent a few hours reorganising and tidying these shelves. I hate running out of room for books :( Also these shelves are double-stacked... I chose to hide the ugly ones (the second-hand ones I bought from the library for like 50c XD) This was the shelf that I was having real trouble with (as it faces away from the window) but I think I got there. I can't believe I even now have gaps in my shelves due to saying goodbye to some of my b...

Welcome to me!

Hi guys :) So this is the equivalent of a BookTube channel. :p I really wanted to make one, but was way too freaked about the cameras, so here I am. I know it's really not the same, but I'm definitely more myself through typing rather than through camera, and I wanted to do something like this. So yeah, my name's Maddie, and welcome to my blog :) I have no idea how often I'll make posts, but I'll try to put up book reviews, and I'll definitely be doing book tags, as the BookTubers do :p Probably once a day :p I might even run out of book tags haha. So a little about me: I'm from New Zealand (or the future, as many people say), home of Lord of the Rings and Narnia.  I'm 19 and love reading, as well as listening to music (pop and classical) and wasting time on Goodreads :p I also feel like I waste time (and money) at university, but hey, can't spend my whole life doing what I love :p I am a hoarder. That is a fact. I have my own personal library...

Book Cake Book Tag

After a little bit of debate (and decision-making with my friend Jacquelyn), I've decided to do the Book Cake Tag as my first tag! :D This is technically making a cake out of books, so we're using books as the ingredients of the cake. Ingredient One: Flour Represents a book that starts off slow but really speeds up. My 'flour' book would have to be Ready Player One. I didn't really know what to expect when I read this book, except that I knew I wanted to read it due to a lot of hype around it on Goodreads in one of my challenges. So I gave it a shot, and holy moly it is incredible!! The world-building and explanations and descriptions at the start were a little hard to pay attention to, but then it took off straight away. The themes in it, the action and suspense and the plot twists (and these are real plot twists, not YA plot twists!) were just unreal. There's also a movie coming out soon, not too sure how I feel about it. I know so many people who co...
